The Genius Magician Hides His Swordsmanship - Chapter 30
Chapter 30. What happened during the Test (5)
One minute ago.
“Drew.!”
I fiddled with my guardian necklace, hoping to summon a spirit.
Pow!
There was a series of piercing sounds.
“Wooosh!”
The swordsman who was about to swing his sword collapsed vomiting blood.
‘Was it Aloy?’
A blue arrow pierced the swordsman’s body, and a magic arrow flew between the children.
“Huh, huh.”
Frightened, Drew collapsed on the spot, but my gaze was fixed on the fallen swordsman.
‘Magic aura……’
It was no surprise that Aloy had killed the swordsman. It wouldn’t be a problem for a 7-star wizard to kill a swordsman who couldn’t even use mana, but the way he pierced the swordsman.
‘For how long have you been hiding your skills?’
[It certainly is intriguing.]
All the places that he aimed at were vital points. The arrows that killed the swordsman were spontaneous.
‘This is absolutely no coincidence.’
I couldn’t even hit every vital point without missing one. Only a skilled assassin could pull this off. He wasn’t just hiding his 7-star skills.
‘What is Aloy’s true identity?’
While I was staring blankly at the fallen swordsman.
“Huh! Are you all right?”
Only then did the rest of the associate professors rush over and use restriction magic on the swordsman, then they calm the children down.
Coooo…!
At that moment, a deafening roar came from overhead. Naturally, I lifted my head.
‘Whew!’
I was breathless at the sight that reflected in my eyes.
‘A Blizzard?’
Ice fragments fell from the sky like meteors. Blizzard filled the clear sky, and seven huge chunks of ice rained down.
“Calm down, children”
“It’s the tower’s support”
Their appearance put a smile on the lips of the associate professors.
‘8th star level?’
My eyes were stained with surprise. There should be at least 8-star wizards if they’re using Blizzard. who are among the best in the world of magic. That should be one of the most gifted individuals on the magic tower.
‘There’s nothing to worry about.’
An 8-star wizard alone can annihilate a small town in an instant. Whether there were eight or twenty six-star wizards, they couldn’t match them.
Wow!
The giant icicles headed exactly where the enemies were.
Whoo!
It hit the ground hard. The vibrations rang throughout the entire training ground.
‘At least it’s an instant death.’
Even if you don’t accept the outcome, it was evident.
Whoo!
After a while, a flying object appeared from the side from which the blizzard flew.
‘Are they the tower’s support?
What appeared in the air was an aerial carriage. A mode of transportation with a massive mana stone attached to the bottom that allows you to move around using mana. There were five wizards riding there.
‘He’s the one who created Blizzard.’
Among them, a middle-aged man with the strongest impression was cleaning his robe.
‘Even after casting Blizzard like that, he’s still so calm.’
[I don’t think he’s someone simple.]
Even between 8 stars, not all 8 stars are the same. Clearly, he was one of the highest levels.
They looked down toward the training ground for a moment.
I went to where Aloy was.
“Sigh……”
Then, Drew breathed a sigh of relief.
‘Are you okay?’
“Hey Ian.”
‘Thank you, I was able to win.’
If it hadn’t been for him, I would’ve suffered more.
“No, but how did you do that magic earlier? Drew managed to calm his startled heart.
‘Magic?’
“Yeah. The one with the mana stone exploding.”
It was a mana bomb.
‘It would be helpful for Drew to know it too.’
I nodded my head.
‘I’ll tell you later. Let’s just pack a few mana stones.’
After a few moments, the children calmed down and had different expressions.
* * *
A total of 5 wizards came from the magic tower.
‘One 8 star and four 7 stars……’
As a countermeasure to a simple terrorist strike, it was an excessive line-up. A single 7-star wizard could demolish the entire terrorist group, but an 8-star wizard also showed up.
‘Isn’t the centrifugal society a mere terrorist group?’
This was a force that would make even a kingdom quake in its boots, so I couldn’t help but wonder.
‘I have a lot of questions.’
The 8 star wizard’s name was Stenos.
“Professors, gather here for a while.”
Stenos summoned Aloy and other associate professors to talk
‘My head hurts.’
Also, the freshmen of the magic tower were targeted by the centrifugal society. One of the associate professors hired by the Magic tower was a member of the terrorist group.
It must have been a terrorist attack that was planned for a long time.
It was already revealed that their connections had already reached the inside of the tower, so there was no way that there wouldn’t be another spy.
‘In the meantime, one wizard is caught.’
Just as I kept one of the swordsmen alive. Stenos also didn’t seem to intentionally kill one of the mages of the Centrifugal Society.
[A swordsman and a wizard, maybe we can get info from them.]
‘I hope so’
The conversation between Stenos and the associate professors was short.
“The exam is over. We will discuss the exam procedure for the remaining subjects later at the Magic Tower. Return to the tower as instructed by the professors.”
With that, Stenos pushed his way through the crowd of children to reach me and Drew. Stenos looked at the shards of magic stones that had exploded.
‘We’re not going to get caught, are we?’
Everyone’s eyes were focused on me.
“You’re of the Delemar’s blood. Look at me for a moment.”
I had no reason or power to refuse.
‘Ha. It isn’t the time to worry about the centrifugal society.’
He must have wondered how a 15-year-old freshman used magic using a mana stone. I couldn’t avoid the eyes of a veteran like Stenos.
‘I wish I could just go quietly…’
He called Aloy and me to a corner.
“What happened?”
Stenos’s gaze went toward Aloy.
“In the midst of fending off the onslaught of the centrifugal society, two swordsmen slipped in among the children.”
For some reason, Aloy’s tone was more rigid than usual.
“The results are as you can see. One of them was knocked out by this kid, and the other was killed by me with magic.
In the end, what comes around goes around.
“How did you subdue the knights of the centrifugal society?”
Stenos’s gaze lingered on me. I rolled my eyes, trying to look as oblivious as possible.
“I don’t know the principle behind it, but it seems that the mana contained in the mana stone exploded. You wouldn’t say it happened by chance, right?”
He guessed the general situation just by looking at the scene.
[I don’t think we can simply lie through this]
There were many witnesses, so I couldn’t say I did nothing.
‘Ha. I can’t do that.’
Fortunately, Stenos didn’t seem to know everything about magic bombs either…
“I cannot tell you that.”
This was the only way.
“You can’t tell me?”
One eyebrow of Stenos twitched, but he did not change his attitude.
“Yes. I can’t tell you because it is something handed down in my family.”
A family inheritance. If that’s the reason, I’ll be able to get out of this current situation.
“Are you saying you’ve already gotten inheritance at your age?”
‘There are circumstances. It’s hard to say anything beyond that because it’s a family secret.’
“Um……”
Stenos finally nodded. Even a wizard of the Tower could not touch a family inheritance. Even more so if it was the Delemar’s.
[You’ve got some tricks up your sleeve].
I was able to defeat a skilled swordsman. Stenos did not know the nature of the magic I used too.
It was the only way to explain the whole situation.
‘I have to get out of this mess.’
[Well, improvisation is good.]
In the end, Stenos had no choice but to leave with a displeased expression on his face.
“Okay. For now, both of you should return to the magic tower.”
I lowered my head and walked side by side with Aloy.
‘Hmm.’
But a nagging feeling settled in the back of my mind. It was an uncomfortable feeling.
[What’s wrong?]
‘Don’t you think it’s a little weird?’
[What?]
“If he’s that good, he should have recognized Aloy’s magic attacks.
Oberon nodded.
[I know. Why didn’t he ask if he used 7-star magic?]
Oberon wondered about Aloy.
[Didn’t he notice his magic?]
‘I don’t think so.’
I shook my head. Because the 8-star Stenos couldn’t have missed that.
‘Even so, it’s still weird.
Aloy’s publicly recognized level was 5 stars. There were three more associate professors, but they weren’t enough to hold their own against eight Centrifugal society wizards.
He should have wondered how up until now not a single child had died.
‘Did Stenos already know about Aloy’s power?’
Other than that, there was no other explanation.
‘Stenos and Aloy……’
My questions about the two .grew more
‘You don’t think the Delemars have someone to keep an eye on me, do you?’
[Huh? Who needs someone to keep an eye on you at this young age? You’re not even old enough to compete to be the next patriarch.]
‘That’s true, but I’ll need to be careful with my actions from now on.
I glanced at Aloy once and moved on.
* * *
The associate professors gathered in the main auditorium inside the tower. It was Stenos’ order.
“Ha……”
“I really thought I was going to die.”
“It’s safe now that we’re in the Magic Tower!”
Only then did the children come to their senses and sighs of relief came out from one end to another. At that moment, the door to the auditorium burst open.
“Guys! Are you okay!?”
Andrei and other professors rushed to the auditorium in a hurry. Their messy hair represented their worries.
‘They’re going to get in trouble.’
I couldn’t say they weren’t responsible. It happened because they assigned troublesome tasks only to young professors. This would not have happened if they had included someone with a high enough level in the first place.
“I’ll hold you accountable.”
It was only natural that Stenos’s eyes shot fiercely at them.
[What is the position of Stenos?]
Andrei and the professors, even though they were full pledged professors, there was a difference between being in charge of new students and being an 8-star wizard in the tower. Stenos was quite high up in the ranks for an 8-star wizard.
‘He might be among the top 10 in the magic tower.’
According to what is known to the public, there are only two 9-star wizards in the magic tower, including the Lord of the Tower, that have the title of Archmage.
“Yes…”
As expected, the professors bowed their heads toward Stenos. But only one person had a sad expression.
“Ha, but… we weren’t gone on purpose, we were doing magic research…….”
The pride of old professor Andrei seemed to be stronger than I thought.
“If there’s an unfair circumstance, let’s hear it. However, there must be a clear excuse. Professor Andrei.”
Andrei tried to open his mouth again at Stenos’s rebuke. However, because of the doorway that opened, his words halted.
“Professor Andrei, wouldn’t it be better to calm the children down first and solve the case?”
Everyone’s eyes were taken away by the woman who entered the auditorium.
‘……the Lord of the Tower?’
The Archmage you only read about in continental newsletters. She’s here in person.
